The biggest chance of a collision is in low Earth orbit, where the vast majority of sattelites are - just a few hundred kilometers above the Earth’s surface. In these orbits you also find both “natural” (meteoroids) and man made (blown up satellites, lost bolts, even flakes of paint) space debris. At night you may see the space debris as meteors in the sky when they enter the atmosphere.
